The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced that starting December 1, 2024, foreigners’ work permits will be integrated with social security cards.
❗ This shift may affect ongoing work permit applications and future renewals, including compliance with social insurance contributions.
Key updates include:
🔸 Social Insurance Compliance: Employers must register foreign employees for social insurance using the new system.
🔸 Streamlined Applications: Work permits can now be processed entirely online, with physical permits phased out gradually.
🔸 Electronic Access: Foreigners can obtain an electronic social security card via an app after verification.
🔸 Residence Permits: The electronic social security card or Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit will facilitate residence permit applications.
🔸 Enhanced Services: The electronic social security card supports work permit inquiries, QR code verification, and more.
